2024 Rural Ambassador

Emily Swift

I was born and raised in Mullewa. My Dad was a truck driver and my mum works at the local primary school. I grew up doing sheep work on the farm and I have worked a range of jobs in the community from the local cafe during wildflower season, to seeding on one of the local farms, harvest at Mullewa CBH and currently the local hospital. My first volunteering role was an ambulance officer from 2021 – 2023. I am an active participant in the Mullewa show it started with stewarding the wool section with my dad and entering arts and crafts and I have continued to steward the wool section and last year won the ribbon for sourdough bread.

The Rural Ambassador Judging and Dinner will be hosted in Chapman Valley on the 20th of July.

Rural Ambassador Award

The Rural Ambassador Competition is a National Competition aimed at young rural adults who have a passion for living and working in rural communities.

The competition aims to discover the next generation of rural leaders who have the desire to represent and promote their community, their region and their state. Successful entrants are given the opportunity to meet and network with likeminded representatives from around the state, around the country and around the Commonwealth. You will meet state and federal decision makers and leaders in agriculture and education, be able to input your point of view, ask the hard questions and make important contacts.

You do not have to be a ‘university graduate’, you just need to have the desire to stand up for Rural Australia, have a basic agricultural and rural knowledge, and be prepared to ‘have a go’. You will experience some tough competition, make lifelong friends and have a damn good time.

So if this sounds like you, contact Mullewa District Agricultural Society Secretary for details – P.O. Box 92 MULLEWA WA 6630 or info@mullewashow.com.au
